These are the three largest associations of historians:

• American History Association (AHA), the oldest history association in the US; now well over one hundred years old.
• The Organization of American Historians (OAH)
• World History Association (WHA)

There are many other history associations that focus on regions, such as the Middle East Studies Association (MESA) or the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies (AAASS), and some organizations that focus on specific fields of history, such as the National Women's History Project (NWHP).
