For some other views of the statue and some info about the author see Vera Mukhina or Vera Mukhina, Sculptress. The statue was the work of Vera Mukhina (1889-1953) for the Soviet Pavilion at the Paris World's Fair (Exposition Internationale) in 1937; it now stands at the north entrance to the All-Russian Exhibition Center. See som epictures about its disassembly for restoration. Those of you who are film buffs will recognize the statue as the old symbol of Mosfilm studio. |
