 Solzhenitsyn
(1918-2008), at the time of his death, was still writing and working to oversee
the publication of his collected works, in thirty volumes).  He was
clearly one of the most important Russian writers of the twentieth
century, and a towering intellectual and cultural figure in Russia;
there is no one even close to his stature alive today.  Take a
