Assignment 4
In The Lab Exercise 2 - Doug's LA Denim Ltd. Quarterly Income
Statement
and Break-Even Analysis
(pages E4.58 - 4.60)
In #4 you are to use natural language formulas for all of the formulas referenced. This means you are to use the cell names in the formulas rather than the column/row references. #4 indicates you are to use the names you created OR the column/row cell references for the formulas. I do not want you to use the column/row references (ex: C4*C5), I want you to use the cell names instead (ex: Units_Sold*Price_Per_Unit).
Once you have completed all of the requirements for In the Lab Exercise 2, you are to send the workbook file to me as an attachment to email. I will grade the workbook file you send and return your grade to you as a reply to your original email.

Assignment 5
In The Lab Exercise 2 - Filtering and Sorting a Database of Office
2000 Specialists (pages E5.54 - E5.57)
This lab exercise will ask you to print out several versions of the worksheet. Each time it asks you to print out a worksheet, instead I want you to create a separate worksheet tab so I can see the what the work you have done. You need to create one workbook with the following worksheets. (Since Part 2 requires you to use a form to find records in the database there isn’t anything required for you to save in this Assignment.) The assignment will tell you to print the worksheets, however since I can’t see what you print it is imperative that you name the worksheet tabs as I have indicated below:
Office 2000 Specialist – this is the worksheet that you bring
in from the student data disk.
Part 1-2a – the sorted data base as defined in Part 1, 2a
Part 1-2b - the sorted data base as defined in Part 1, 2b
Part 1-2c - the sorted data base as defined in Part 1, 2c
Part 3a – the criteria from Part 2a using the AutoFilter menu
option.
Part 3b – the criteria from Part 2b using the AutoFilter menu
option.
Part 3c – the criteria from Part 2c using the AutoFilter menu
option.
Part 3d – the criteria from Part 2d using the AutoFilter menu
option.
Part 4a – the criteria in Part 4a showing the criteria range,
database, and extraction area.
Part 4b – the criteria in Part 4b showing the criteria range,
database, and extraction area.
Part 4c – the criteria in Part 4c showing the criteria range,
database, and extraction area.
Part 4d – the criteria in Part 4d showing the criteria range,
database, and extraction area.
Part 4e – the criteria in Part 4e showing the criteria range,
database, and extraction area.
Part 5 – the database showing the use of DAVERAGE
and DCOUNT
NOTE:
Directions on how to create multiple sheets to show the criteria and
extract ranges for Part 4.
1. Highlight the entire spreadsheet that you want to copy. You can
click
on the highlight all button in the upper left corner of the spreadsheet
– above the 1 and to the left of the A.
2. Once the sheet is highlighted click on COPY
3. Click on the Sheet2 tab and right click on the highlight all button
and click on PASTE.
4. Rename the Sheet2 tab to a descriptive name, something like Part
4a.
5. Type in the criteria you want for this query
6. Click on any cell in the database range
7. Select DATA, FILTER, ADVANCED FILTER.
8. Select Copy to Another Location on the Advanced Filter dialog box.
9. Click on the button with the red arrow which is to the right of
the List Range. This will bring up just the range for the
database.
10. Now you will want to make sure you click the proper sheet where
you want the database you want to use is. So you will want to
click
on the new sheet tab you just created. In this example that would
be Part 4a. What this does is tell Excel that you don’t want to
use
the Database Range that was created on the first sheet you want to use
the one that is now on the Part 4a sheet. You can now click on
the
close button (the X ). The Advanced Filter box will come back up.
11. You will now do the same thing for the Criteria Range and the Copy
to (Extract Range).
12. You have now set the criteria range and the extract range to this
new sheet (Part 4a) and when you click on OK it will place the new
extracted
records on the correct sheet.
13. Save the Excel file and continue with the remaining queries.
This way I will be able to see all of the queries and the extractions
for
each part of Part 4.
Once you have completed all requirements for In the Lab Exercise 2, you are to send the workbook file to me as an attachment to email. I will grade the workbook file you send and return your grade to you as a reply to your original email.
