The first
column has a number in it – you can click on this number to get
more details about each book in the list. One important detail you can
get is a list of the Library of Congress Subject Headings that have
been assigned to each book. These subject headings can lead you to more
books that have been assigned those same headings.
-
The second
column has empty boxes in it – you can click in any of these boxes
to add book titles to an online “Bookbag,” which
you can print out or email to yourself. This feature is especially useful
if you have a long list of results and want to select just a few of the
books from the list to go find on the shelf.
-
The “Author”column tells you the author’s name.
-
The “Title”
column tells you the book’s title.
-
The
“Year” column tells you in what year the book was published.
-
The
“Call Number” column gives you the specific location in
the library where you can find the book (more on this later). It also tells
you if the book is a Circulating book (one that can be checked out) or a
Reference book (one that can only be used in the library).
-
The “Campus”
column tells you which campus(es) own the book. The numbers in parentheses after the campus
name tell you how many copies of that title the campus owns, and whether
or not it is checked out. For example, if you see something that says (1/0),
that means the campus owns ONE copy of that title, and ZERO copies are checked
out.
-
The “Ext.
Note” and “Ext. Link” columns may provide links
to other web pages (usually a Library of Congress web site) that give more
information about the book, such as a table of contents.
