InfoTrac | Perform a search
for magazine information about the rights of adoptees to know their birth parents.
1.Use the InfoTrac link on the left and locate Expanded Academic ASAP. 2. Type in lower case - adoptees and birth parents. 3. Change the search default from Subject to Keyword before you press Search . 4. Select View to review text, abstract or citation. 5. Note the e-mail link.

ProQuest Direct | Perform a search
for magazine information about the rights of adoptees to know their birth parents.
1. Click on the ProQuest Direct link on the left. 2. Type in lower case - adoptees and birth parents - in the search box provided. 3. In the "databases" box, use the drop down menu and select "Interdisciplinary - Research Library." 4. Select only full-text articles. 5. Enter the search by selecting the Search button. 6. Review the results returned. 7. Note that the "All Sources" tab is selected. You can click on the other tabs to limit your search to "Scholarly Journals," "Magazines," or "Trade Publications." 8. Select one article from the results list. 9. Note any hypertext links to related subjects. 10. Locate the e-mail box on the left side of the screen. |
SIRS | Perform a search
for magazine information about the rights of adoptees to know their birth parents.
1. Select the "Quick Search" tab and search by keyword/Natural Language. 2. Find the search box and type in lower case - adoptees AND birth parents (note the Boolean operator "AND" is capitalized). 3. Select the results to be returned by date . 4. Enter the search. 5. Note how the citations are returned as hypertext links to the full text followed by summaries. 6. Select the full-text of an article (click on the underlined title). 7. Note the e-mail option. 8. Select the "cite" hypertext link at the top right of the page and review the style manual options.

Indexes & Databases by Subject | Imagine
that you want to perform a search for journal information about the
rights of adoptees to know their birth parents.
1. From the Indexes & Databases by Subject list (in the middle of the page) select the "Social Sciences and Sociology" category. 2. Choose PsycINFO from the listing of databases. 3. In the box under the words "Enter Keword or phrases" type in lower case adoptees and birth parents. Click the perform search button. 4. Review the results by clicking on the display button. 5. Note that abstracts, complete references and sometimes a full text article will be provided. 6. Review the expanded citation information provided. 7. Locate the NVCC periodical listing to determine if any of the publication titles you need are available from another database providing full-text. |
