1.  The monomer that nucleic acids are built from are _______ and  they contain not only atoms of C, H, O, and N but also _____.

a.  amino acids; sulfur                              b.  fatty acids; sulfur
c.  bases; phosphorus                             d. 
nucleotides; phosphorus

Answer (a) would have been correct if I had asked for the monomers for proteins.  Answer (b) is not correct because bases are one of the subunits that make up nucleotides (nucleotides consist of a base, a 5 carbon sugar, and a phosphate group).  Fatty acids are used to build some types of lipids.
