Unit 4

Prepare to Write a Draft of Your Research Report

1. Read Lannon:

10th edition

  • Chapter 15  Designing Pages and Documents
  • Chapter 16  Designing and Testing the Document for Usability
  • Review Appendix A: "Recording and Documenting Research Findings."
  • Optional: Appendix C: Editing for Grammar, Usage, and Mechanics

     11th edition

  • Chapter 15 "Designing Pages and Documents"
  • Review Part V: "A Quick Guide to Documentation"
  • Optional Part V: "A Quick Guide to Grammar, Usage and Mechanics"

2. Wait until I have responded to your Exercises 8 and 9, so that you have my approval of your topic, general approach to the problem, sources and outline.  Then, start to work on the actual writing of the report.

3. At this point you may need to refine your outline; you should continue taking notes, adding to your bibliography as you find more information sources.

4. When you have completed this planning work, it is time to begin writing the draft of your Research Report. Your draft must be clear, correct, properly documented, and complete.

Be sure it fits in the Blackboard message box, so that the reader does not have to scroll horizontally to read it. Do not continue with your Research Report until I respond to your draft
