Explanation of Assignments
and Grading
 
 

In HIS 135, you must do the following assignments:

Paragraphs (150 points):
Introduction (50 points)
Paragraph 1 (50 points)
Paragraph 2 (50 points)

Exams (400 points):
Midterm (200 points)
Final (200 points)  In addition, you must pass the final exam with a grade of "C" (140/200) or better to earn a passing grade of "C" or better in this course.

Papers (300 points):
Module Essay 1 (100 points)
Module Essay 2 (100 points)
Current Events Paper (100 points)

Blackboard (50 points):
Ten postings to Blackboard (50 points)

Your Personal Choice Assignment (You must do one for at least 100 points, but you may do more.)
Your Personal World History Paper (400 points)
a web module creation (400 points), but this must be approved and started early in the course.
a My Family and History (100 points)
a Pop Culture paper (100 points)
an additional module essay paper (100 points)

a movie review paper (50 points)

Extra Credit:
From the "Your Personal Choice Assignment" selections, you may do more than one. In other words, you can opt to do more than the required 100 points, but you cannot do two movie papers.

Late Work:
There are specific assignment deadlines in this course, and these are listed on the course schedule. You may not submit late extra credit work from a course unit. You may submit any of the course assignments, or optional course assignments late, but the maximum point value will then be reduced by one-half.
