Language and Speech Communities

A speech community is a group of people who share a dialect or "variety" of a language. Research in this area has been conducted largely by experts in sociolinguistics and the study of language and culture. In this module, we are also concerned with the way that language diversity affects interpersonal communication and interpersonal perceptions.
