Exercise 8: Planning Your Research Report

8.1. Read Lannon either edition:

• Chapter 9  Exploring Primary Sources
• Chapter 10  Evaluation and Interpreting Information
• Chapter 11  Summarizing and Abstracting Information

8.2.  Go to the planning form for Exercise 8. When you have completed the entire form, go to Blackboard and select Discussion Board. Then select the Forum for Exercise 8. Select Add New Thread to open a message box.  Paste your memo into the box and click on submit.

This planning form will help you to identify a subject for investigation, narrow it, identify an audience and purpose to guide your writing, and consider possible sources of information. Focus especially on writing two well-developed paragraphs explaining your choice of audience and purpose.

Exercise 8 is worth up to 50 points.
