Unit 4

Explain why living systems require energy.
Explain the ATP/ADP Cycle (page 4-4).
Distinguish between oxidation and reduction.  Study Objective 7 in Unit 4.  On the bioenergetics exam, I found that this was the area that caused the most problems.  You should be able to relate oxidation and reduction to energy transfer and to photosynthesis and cellular respiration.
You should be able to write the general equations for photosynthesis and cellular respiration.
Contrast photosynthesis and cellular respiration.  Study Objectives 8 and 9 (page 4-6 ).   This material is the main idea in this unit.  Don't try to go further in Unit 4 until you have mastered this material!
