Using the Study Guide

The PRIMARY resource for Biology 101 is the ELI Study Guide and Laboratory Manual by Erdahl and Wise.  All exams are based on the objectives in the Study Guide and all laboratory exercises are found in the Study Guide.   You MUST have this book!

The table of contents is found on the second page of the guide (pages i and ii).  The first half of the Study Guide contains the information needed for the lecture portion of this course, Units 1-7.  Immediately following Unit 7, you will find the Bio 101 laboratory assignments.  Page through the Study Guide now to verify this information.

Now go to page Unit 1-1 in the Study Guide.  At the beginning of each unit in the Study Guide you will find an Overview and Unit Goals.  These are the general statements about the material covered in each unit.  Each unit is then organized on the basis of numbered objectives.  These are what you are expected to know for this course, and what you will be tested on.  For each objective listed in this unit, there are aids (readings and/or exercises) to help you accomplish the objective.
