This assignment consists of three parts: 

  • Reading the Instructor's Welcome Letter (on the Discussion Board in Blackboard)
  • Posting a letter introducing yourself to the class
  • Submitting a Course Completion Plan.

Steps for Completing The Introductory Letter:

  • Click on the Discussion Board button in Blackboard
  • Click on the Introductions Forum.
  • Click on the Add New Thread button to write a 200-400 word message about:

    Your previous academic chemistry background and experience

    Your background (if you are a full-time student, your program and year; if you work (either employment or 'home management');

    Career Plans or goals related to this course (if any);

    The reason you enrolled in this course and what you hope to accomplish with it;

    (Optional) A statement about yourself that focuses on something unique or distinctive about you. This will give your instructor and the other students something to distinguish you from the other students in the course.

Steps for Completing The Course Completion Plan:

The Course Completion Plan will give you a viable plan of action for completing the considerable workload required to complete this course. I ask you to enter your name and date in the plan so I know you understand that you need to work steadily in the course, and observe specific deadlines in order to be successful.

  • Print the Course Completion Plan
  • Enter your name and current date at the top of the Course Completion Plan.
  • Read the Course Completion Plan to understand the required weekly course assignments to be completed and submited by you.
  • Make a copy of the Course Completion Plan and file it with all your CHM111 course materials.
  • Start completing the assignments in the Course Completion Plan.
  • Mail one copy of the Course Completion Plan, that has your name and date, to me at
