Part II of Final Exam: In a well-organized essay evaluate the FDR
Memorial based on the images presented below. First, state your
opinion of how well the Memorial communicates what is important
about President Roosevelt. Explain as specifically as you can what
the best five of the figures below represents, drawing on your know-
ledge of the period from the text, the original documents, and the
stories you read. Then compare these imagesto the five things you
chose to communicate in a memorial to FDR and state your opinion
of whether each should have been included in the Memorial. If there
are other things that you believe should have been included or a
better way of communicating that information or idea, describe and
explain them.
The Franklin Delano Roosevelt
Memorial opened in May of 1997.
It is located on the shore of the Tidal Basin between the Jefferson
Memorial and the Lincoln Monument. The visitor walks through a
series of outdoor "rooms" with sculptures, engraved quotations, and
waterfalls. Here are some of the images on display there.
