2.  Which introduction is the most well-written for an argumentative essay?

Choice a)  In "A Story of an Hour," Kate Chopin is arguing that women are happier if they are unmarried.  She relates the emotions that a married woman feels when she believes her husband has died.

    Choice b)

"They said she had died of heart disease --of the joy that kills."

Mrs. Mallard, the main character in Kate Chopin's work, "The Story of an Hour," dies at the end of the story when she learns that the husband she had believed dead, returns alive and well.  Through the story Chopin communicates that even if women are happily married,  the "joy" of marriage destroys a significant part of them.

Choice c)   "The Story of an Hour" is a brilliant work by one of America's early feminist writers, Kate Chopin.  While alive, she did not achieve fame or fortune through her writing.  In more recent years her works have received more favorable treatment by critics.
