  • Take the Final Exam.

  • Listen to some further information about this unit as a mp3 file.  You can also read the information as a txt file.
  • Take a look at the notes on the Dair Mar Elia monastery in Iraq. These were done by Joe Costigan, a student in HIS 111.

    • For extra credit please suggest to your instructor a relevant video for this unit of the course. Send the title of the video, the url and a brief explanation of why you find the video interesting and applicable to the material that is being studied in this unit.
    Extra Credit Options
    • Take the short 5-point quiz for chapter 36. Log into Blackboard and look under "Chapter Quizzes." You have five minutes to complete each quiz (multiple-choice questions).
    • Comment in a long paragraph on the validity/accuracy/relevance of the characteristics of "civilization" according to François Pierre Guillaume Guizot, a nineteenth-century French historian, for a maximum of 25 points.
    • For extra credit of a maximum of 25 points, write a short paragraph in which you explain why you think it is important to study history (check these two links for more information, Historians and Why we study history).
    • Suggest an assignment for use somewhere in the course.  Be creative!
    • For extra credit of a maximum of 10 points, write a short paragraph in which you explain what you found most interesting about your study of history in HIS 112 (or what you liked most about the course).
     
    Congratulations on your successful completion of HIS 112!  We hope that you will continue your study of history in one of my other courses such as HIS 111, 135, 241 or 242.
