Campus Lab

What?
You are required to attend one on-campus, fixed-time lab at the Alexandria Campus.  Lab 4 and most of lab 5 will be accomplished on that visit.

When?  Where?
It is held approximately once a month at the Alexandria Campus Science Lab (Bisdorf Classroom Building, room 429, 3001 North Beauregard Street). Ideally, you should come sometime between the 6th and 9th week of your enrollment.  Because of your schedule and the lab schedule,   it may not be possible to do the campus lab in the week indicated in the schedule. As long as you accomplish the preparatory work for the lab, it can be done before you start Unit 3 or after you have finished Unit 3. If the choice is between these two options, do it at the earlier date. If you must do it later than week 8 of your enrollment, continue with the work (including exam 2 - the lecture exam will not cover material studied only in lab).
For the current campus laboratory schedule, check here.

Prepare? It's a good idea!
Early in your enrollment, check the times scheduled for the campus lab and choose a date that will work best for you. Pencil it into your schedule and send me an e-mail indicating the date you plan to attend.  If you must change the date, be sure to let me know!
Read through Labs 3-6.  It is important to learn this material before you come to lab.   There will be a quiz for each lab at the end of the campus lab. The more you know ahead of time the better off you will be!
Read and sign the safety rules and bring a signed copy with you to lab. This is your admission ticket to the lab!  Note in the safety rules that students with open toed shoes are not allowed in the lab.  Why?  Spilled chemicals are likely to meet up with the big toe!
Be on time!   If you are more than 10 minutes late, you may not be allowed to stay and will have to reschedule the lab at a later time.  This is a general policy for all biology labs at the Alexandria Campus.
Bring your energy and enthusiasm!  This lab is a real workout!  However, most students enjoy the experience. For once, someone else will be preparing the lab materials for you, and you will also get the opportunity to meet other ELI students taking biology.  I look forward to seeing you at the lab!
